If requirements change from heating to cooling in accordance with the seasons – as is typically the case in office buildings and greenhouses – a GEA heat pump can provide the heating in winter and cooling in the summer. In the seasons where both heating and cooling are required the efficiency can be more than 10 times better than a conventional boiler/chiller installation.
Whatever application may interest your company for a heat pump, it will – when its overall life cycle is considered – amortize quickly by a reduction in energy consumption and emissions that affect the global climate. In addition, emphasis is placed on using natural refrigerants such as ammonia wherever possible.
Heat pumps are a great solution that can help to decarbonize the heat supply. In this introduction video on heat pumps our experts from GEA Heating & Refrigeration Technologies, Thomas Lergenmueller and Kenneth Hoffmann, explain alongside helpful illustrations the principles of a heat pump and how they can help you to decarbonize your heat supply.

PR-OLEO® ammonia oils are the natural choice to optimize industrial cooling and heating applications operating with reciprocating or screw compressors.
GEA is dedicated to tackling climate change and helping decarbonize district heating projects like this one in the Northeast of England. Our heat pumps are at the center of the Gateshead Mine Water Scheme, the largest mine water heat recovery scheme of its kind in the country.
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the heating supplied to a city in Malmö in Sweden required a sea change in thinking by a major power company, using GEA’s energy-efficient heat pumps. After testing the water, a sewage plant was considered the best source for heating homes in an innovative approach for turning waste into usable energy.
